Dr. Miranda sees each of his patients in his comfortable private office in the Laurel Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. After scheduling your consultation, an informational packet will be mailed to you with information about the procedure that you are interested in.

On the day of your consultation, you will be greeted by Elaine Ng, our Patient Coordinator. Elaine will provide you with a patient questionnaire which reviews pertinent areas of your medical, surgical and migraine history.

Your Migraine History

Dr. Miranda needs a detailed account of your migraine history. In particular Dr. Miranda needs to know about:

Are there any Trigger Points (where your migraines start) -- such as your forehead, temples, eyes or back of the head?
How often are your migraine headaches (per day, week or month)?
What medications have you used for migraine relief (presciption and over the counter)?
Have you used Botox for migraine relief, and was it successful?

Identification of Trigger Points

Your migraine trigger points will be identified by your history and migraine experiences.
Botox is often used to confirm trigger points.
If you are a candidate, surgery can be booked shortly after all potential trigger points are confirmed or eliminated.

Since Dr. Miranda prides himself in his dedication to detail and fully understanding each patient’s individual concerns, do not be surprised if the consultation lasts an hour or more. Dr. Miranda will listen to your concerns, discuss your options and conduct a physical examination. The risks and benefits of each procedure are discussed in detail with you so that you have a more complete understanding of each of the options that Dr. Miranda has presented to you.
